With summer officially coming to an end, it’s time to consider updating your home security strategy for fall. If you don’t have a security plan, don’t worry, it’s never too late to improve the safety of your home. Check out out top 3 tips for fall:
- Examine your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide to make sure they are working properly. That means testing all parts, replacing batteries if needed, and making sure they’re in the right positions in your home.
- Stock up on winter supplies. If you live in a snowy, icy climate, make sure you have all the winter safety tools you need like rock salt, shovels, and more. If you live in a more temperate climate with rain, hurricanes and tornadoes, make sure you have storm shutters, storm drains, and other storm protection to prevent damage to your home and prevent safety issues on your property.
- Check your emergency kits. In the case of an emergency, it’s important that you have all the supplies you need to keep yourself and your family safe and secure. That includes enough food and clean water to last everyone in your home, and pets, for several days. Also pack extra medication, flashlights, batteries, and blankets. Many fall emergencies are related to fall weather changes that can cause power outages and home damage.
